Power Plants by NIGHTWAVE

Slovenia-born, Glasgow-based, Maya Medvesek, better known as Nightwave, makes her debut on Hotflush with a collection of tracks showcasing her wide range of influences and similarly extensive skills as a producer.

From the frenetic electro of the title track, through the emotive strings of Unconditional, and the energetic percussion of La Selva, her unmistakable grounding in Detroit techno, electro, acid, Chicago house, and old rave nostalgia is present and correct. Mescalito and River Serpent, on the other hand, evoke the classic sounds of early dubstep. It’s a heady and compelling mix of sounds, sitting comfortably within the historical patterns of the label.
