I was reading the paper and you know what it said
unemployment's rising in the provinces
factories are closing people don't know where to stand
and everybody's moving off to - Queensland
but not me

well there are a million old directions they all tell you that they're west
so i tried them all but here i am back east for a rest
you can sit around pretending you belong when you don't
and the weather on the tv only helps to prove the point

the smell of rotting apples on the ground in early June
to walk in the brown hills hear them crying out for rain
to swim in the Tuki Tuki river again
