Odessa by Nick Zubeck
This slow building, gurgling, synth-laced, four on the floor off kilter dance anthem is a bit of a departure for songwriter Nick Zubeck. Originally intended to be part of his October 2023 LP Echo Park, Odessa slowly developed into a sprawling track that didn't fit with the other album songs. Nick built the track slowly in his studio starting with a repeating chord progression and lyric phrase, undulating drum machine and bass to lay the support for layers of melodic and textural synths and guitars. The dancehall crescendo is fleshed out by fellow friends and musicians Thomas Hammerton on synths, and Nathan Lawr on percussion.
