Untouched Takeaway by Nick Lowe
This live album puts new twists on well-known songs from Nick Lowe's celebrated catalog. He pares back the rock snarl of "What's So Funny ('Bout Peace, Love and Understanding)" to reveal a heart-on-sleeve ballad that lets the message shine through, while the power-pop gem "Cruel to Be Kind" gets an injection of country twang that gives the addictive tune some extra gleam. And his latter-day gift for twinkling crooners ("You Inspire Me") and deep, dark introspection ("The Beast in Me") yields crowd-stopping moments. The album compiles songs from Nick’s 1995 tour of Stockholm in support of The Impossible Bird and his 2001 European tour after the release of The Convincer.
