Dancing Dogs by Nana Grizol

We recorded these songs over the winter of 2008-2009 at our HQ in Athens. We really loved the frenetic energy and warm analog sound of these recordings, but decided to record all of these songs again with Derek Almstead in the sessions that became our second studio album, "Ruth."

We've wanted to release this record for a long time. It used to feel like a picture of another direction the band could have taken. Now we think of it more like a snapshot of the band from a different angle. We hope you enjoy it!

We are releasing this album now to support two causes dear to our hearts. One is Cruisin Records, a DIY label putting out queer art and music. The other is Another Gulf Is Possible, which is a group that describes itself as "a women-of-color centered, grassroots collaborative of ten members from Brownsville, Texas to Port St Lucie, Florida." They are doing some critical work during the long recovery from Hurricanes Ida and Ian, prefiguring the world we want to live in.

Nana Grizol is a rock band from Athens, GA. Their most recent album, South somewhere Else, is about growing up in that town. In addition to Theo, Jared, Robbee, and Matte, South Somewhere Else features BZ Gibbs, Sherri Miller, and Kym Register. Cover painting by Patrick Sprague
