Debut EP by a key artist in Lisbon's new sound: Odete. She is a multidisciplinary artist dedicated to practices like performance, visual arts, DJing and music production. She's outstanding at every one of them.
It comes with two remixes by two other Lisbon crushers of patriarchy: mutant noise alchemist GYUR and experimental-club-tearjerker Stasya.
mastering by Ben Versluis
artwork by João Ervedosa and Odete Ferreira
a note from Odete about Matrafona
for all my trannies and medicated bodies:
A group of experiments I made in between surviving a day job, dealing with crushed dreams and memories and a not very stable state of mind. These are tracks that I think are dwealing with some of my ideas on (club) music and at the same time with my ideas on expressing feelings , on language : it is another attempt at finding a language in a dissassembled community - angry tranny calm down (lol) or they'll kill you - look around - aren't these colors pretty? What about that mist that kiss the other day? Sunsets when I was a teenager - the sound of rain. My daily life made me obsessed with texture - so this ep is to fit the shattered flatness of my day to day ///
25% of any sales will be donated to an organisation chosen by the artist - in this case, Stop Despejos - who fights evictions due to Lisbon's current gentrification crisis
