# About this track: Reliquant Drift

The boundary walkers left their mark in this one. Recorded during three consecutive twilight sessions at the eastern edge of the Sinkyard, where urban debris meets forgotten headstones. We positioned our hydrophones where floodwater laps against concrete foundations, capturing that peculiar resonance of water meeting manufactured materials that have begun their slow return to earth.

Warm drones unfold like the slow exhale of memory, built from processed pump organ recordings made in an abandoned chapel we discovered half-submerged. The metallic reverberations that pan across the stereo field came from contact mics placed on rusted cemetery gates as the evening wind pushed them back and forth on hinges that hadn't been oiled in decades.

When performed live, "Reliquant Drift" transforms our stage into a crossing point. We scatter authentic remnants collected from our sessions—fragments of weathered prayer cards, tarnished memorial tokens—while projections of water patterns ripple across dust-covered banners. The audience becomes transient witnesses to this liminal space.

The reversed bell sequence that emerges in the final minutes represents the Reliquants' most sacred practice: the retrieval of sound-memory from objects long abandoned. These reversed tones create that unsettling sensation of time flowing backward, of forgotten things returning to awareness against the natural order.

This piece speaks to that moment when a relic-hunter discovers something that calls to them across time—when the boundary between observer and observed dissolves, and the act of witnessing becomes a form of resurrection.
