Kaleidesthesia by Ken Moore

This is part two of the "Radius Of Capture" album that was released one month ago. The idea is to mash-up two or more recordings from Ken's extensive catalog of music, creating a fresh new adventure for each of the 11 projects on each album.

On this album, you will find previously released recordings that may or may not sound familiar. The term "mash-up" means that two different songs are put together, usually changing something in the process to make it work musically. Sometimes Ken adds three different sound sources or more to make these collages.

Ken has been experimenting with reverse tapes, playing tapes at different speeds, and generally combining different recordings to make an interesting and complex original composition for many years. With the digital technology available today, he is able to do all the things he once did on magnetic tape, right on his computer. Of course, some of the recordings used here were originally recorded on analog tape.

From the all-percussion opening piece to the smooth ambient sound of the Hammond organ on the last selection, you may find that listening to everything in between will take you on an unusual journey through the back catalog of instrumental formless compositions that are Ken's signature sound.

Ken Moore has been using sound as music since 1975. This site began as a promotion for the Moore/Myers band, which released two albums in the 1980s. Now, Ken has expanded his talents to include percussion and abstract recordings from the Gong Room. With the addition of Short Story, ACS is creating even better adventurous sounds, more than ever before.
