Bent Applefarm by Milieu

Bent Appletrees first appeared as a volume of unreleased Milieu tracks in 2006, at the Decisive Sound netlabel. Over time, five more volumes of outtakes, alternate versions, live tracks and other ephemera from various recording sessions surfaced, filling out a series of releases that were intended to be as informal as possible. Owing nods to the bootleg collecting, discography checking, record shop hunting days of my youth (who am I kidding, those days aren't over by a long shot) and to patchwork releases like Ovuca's Onclements and Odd Nosdam tapes, Bent Appletrees is an almost diary-like catalogue of interesting jewels collected and retrieved from years and years of recording work. Many tracks are just loops, while others are more fleshed out demos of things that would later be finished and properly released. There are also fully finished tracks that, for one reason or a million, never made it anywhere. After much archival work, plugging in old hard drives, going through old tapes and CD-Rs, scrubbing FTP directories, I think I've mostly brought Bent Appletrees up to a respectable speed today. This collection, Bent Applefarm, compiles every track from volumes 1-6 of Bent Appletrees and 28 more previously unreleased tracks from various sessions (these being referred to as Bent Appleleaves). There will probably be more collections of Appletracks in the future, as time goes on, but for now, this set should serve to both satisfy the eager listener and Milieu collector, and establish the current canon of Bent Appletrees material in a nice solid physical print run.
