Roots & Horizons by Michaela Bekenn

Roots & Horizons is Michaela Bekenn's debut album.

The songs were recorded in Onguiaahra, so-called Niagara, on the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe peoples, many of whom continue to live and work there today.

This record is a living time-capsule holding years of discoveries, milestones, griefs, dreams, and joys. These songs exist somewhere between the realms of then and now, and have lived in Michaela's heart, bones, and hard drive for many moons. The trees remind that now is the season of letting go and releasing. Each tune has been steeped in flavour and feeling, and is ready to flow into your ears!

As sound therapy practitioner and emerging music therapist, Michaela is acutely aware of the ways that music has sustained communities across cultures and time. Michaela feels strongly that her music belongs to and within her community. To widen the village around these songs, *you* are invited to share Roots & Horizons with one person in your circle.

Michaela weaves dreamy acoustic layers with potent lyricism, and soaring vocal melodies.
