Many of the ideas behind these songs are ones that might have been discarded in previous projects, dismissed with thoughts like, “That’s not cool enough” or “That won’t be relatable to everyone.” With ME & The Robots, those barriers were finally broken.

Turning down an idea only happened if it didn’t feel interesting or enjoyable—to me, and no one else.
The result is an album that’s unabashedly nostalgic yet refreshingly new. Wave 1 dives into themes that feel like glimpses of shared memories and personal fascinations: 80s films, video games, road trips, coffee culture, and people who shaped the journey along the way. It’s a celebration of the details that make life vibrant, proving that when you write about what you love, it’s possible to create something others can find joy in, too—even if that joy is an accidental side effect.

The title Wave 1 holds layers of meaning. It’s inspired by a love for surfing and the cultural movements that come in waves, but it also reflects the way this project has unfolded—a first wave of music that’s part of something larger on the horizon. It’s about nostalgia, yes, but also about setting the stage for something fresh and forward-looking.
Musically, the album spans a variety of styles while maintaining a cohesive, signature sound. Tracks like “MMORPG” bring quirky, specific storytelling to life, while others like “Snowflakes” and “Starbucks” explore everyday moments through a lens of melody and emotion.
