Water Rise by Hiram
Water Rise is an ethereal journey into environmental sound, where Hiram captures the fluidity of nature through evolving compositions. This collection features recordings from live solo sessions in two contrasting landscapes: the shaded banks of the Mississippi River in Minnesota and the vast, silent desert skies of New Mexico.
The track "Wind Song" gently weaves nature’s breath with field recordings from Joshua Tree, CA, layered over the melody of a 15-string zither. Throughout the album, Hiram blends horns, flutes, reeds, and a variety of instruments—electric piano, chimes, tongue drum, shruti, tanpura, synthesizer, and magnetic tape—with ambient sounds from the environment. The result is a unique harmonic resonance that connects self to space, creating new memories and vibrations.
Water Rise invites the listener into a world where sound flows freely, an exploration of self and space through the music of condensation.
