The Nooze by Maternus

An outlander finds a circular object wedged in a pilf of scrib meat. He presents the object to the orc king, who kindly accepts it and hands it to his adviser. It had been a long road, and the outlander (secretly the neravar) felt inclined to take the air in the orc village, on whose byways he soon came upon a potion seller. After introducing himself as Darys the potionpotter gestured to his shelf of variously bubbling and smoking and manycolored glassware containers. the outlander made his choice, took one sip, and began to feel very strange. a strong but not altogether unpleasant intensity localized around his breasts and buttocks, which were growing larger by the second. Suddenly darys reached onto the shelf and uncorked a potion for
himself, guzzled it, and turned to the now half-transformed outlander. before his glazed eyes, the outlander blossomed into a Khajiit woman. overtaken by this sight, Darys pounced, not unlike a cat himself, upon the outlander, they wrestled about the park, tore off each other's jeans, and made love. the next morning the outlander was big with a cub. when Darys saw the blaze in her eyes as she purred down at her stomach, he knew that she would never abort. he returned to the shop, unsure what to do. when the cub soon after, born, and suckling at the outlander's (dagoth ur's old friend's) teat, the outlander grew distant, her mind turned suddenly to checks. the coldness which that moment swepped into the parlor swept also, across town, through the veins of Darys, who now longed to see the child, but was way behind on child support payments. the courts were garnishing his potions with a magic worm they fixed at the cork of each bottle. his first day in court was a blow. the cub had never known Darys, and he reproached him with phrases Darys had heard many times before - from the outlander herself. to all involved, it seemed the cub had closed his heart to his father. the worms suckled and the shop suffered. when the second court date came, Darys was nowhere to be seen. he took up work in the city of nazareth. bill knew an office that was hiring. soon the routine took hold of Darys and he felt his vital essence bound, as it were, to an alien heart. it was as if he were an automaton, veering in and out of harmony with the siren's voice of advancement and trifling pay raises. each he asked himself: where is my son? Still in barnsley? summers passed at the lake. one day, in his final years, a flash of consciousness overtook him, yielded that sense of profound, oceanic, connection he had dismissed most of his life as fraud: it was christ, his blood. it had always been christ's blood, and the sacrifice he made to secure a new covenant for the wretched and foolhardy. he rose before the image of the lake, suddenly changed, and howled its eternal glory.
