True Blue from Slow Burn by Mamie Minch
I write this song after reading a New Yorker article about the color blue. It’s special, not really like other colors. The word for blue seems to develop much later in recorded histories than red, black, yellow. If you ask a little child who hasn’t been told, they won’t pick out the sky as being blue; it simply is sky colored. It is also the color of atmosphere; as mountains in a range get farther away, they are lower contrast, and more hazy blue. Yves Klein was obsessed with it, painted everything around him with his signature shade; he made an ancient thing feel very modern. I think it’s the most poetic of colors.
