Everything Breathes by Mama Tjutju

"Everything Breathes" is a piece of music that speaks to the important understanding that everything is alive - a life to be cared for and respected in its sovereignty. The song also speaks to the notion that we cannot numb ourselves away from pain, both past and present, and think we can feel this aliveness of everything. Therefore the notion that moving through our pain, into our hearts, from there we can recognise that everything breathes and thus feel the deep love that lives within that understanding.

There can not be the outer healing of our natural world which we now as a whole have come to speak off in terms of policy and urgency, within the inner healing of our own selves and the relationships between us. Not simply because we are connected with the outer world, but becasuse the outer world is a reflection; a mirror, of our inner worlds.

The world cannot heal, before women are free.
Women cannot become free, before men find the true courage to heal their inner wounds and generational traumas.
The rivers, the forests and the ocean cannot heal until all structures built to control the wilderness at the heart of life have dissolved. The cyclical nature of life, expressed specifically in the Earth and in Women, must be understood and surrender to, and the linear productivity-oriented structure of time and life, which is entirely synthetic, must be left in the past now.


Care for all life, and recognise that all life is sovereign and inherently intelligent and that it is often better to listen than to assert.
