Rescue Songs by Luna Keller
"Rescue Songs" is a deeply community-driven project which began with a "delightfully insane" idea to let my community choose the songs for my next EP from my unreleased catalogue (over 600 songs). I launched a Kickstarter last September with the tagline “Rescued by you and heard by the world.” The campaign raised over €9k, and a month later, I was on a plane to California, counting votes to find out which 6 winning songs I would record at my destination. Working in person with my producer (Dominic Romano) for the first time was really inspiring, we brought the winning songs to life with a stripped-back sound, we wanted them to sound like a late-night conversation with a good friend, that allows listeners to hear the human beings behind the microphones. Speaking of, alongside me and Dominic the wonderful Harley Eblen added cello to the songs and Michael Stephenson added piano and some additional guitars - I'm so grateful that I get to work with such amazing people.
This project was quite the trust fall, not knowing which songs I will record until basically a week before recording started. But I was surprised to see how well these songs fit together, some were expected favorites and others surprised me like “Oxígeno” my first Spanish release - a song I wrote when I was 17. I’ve also never recorded a full EP in the studio in a week, so I didn’t know how that would go. But it turned out to be one of the most fun creative experiences I’ve ever had - getting to work with these incredible people so intensely was deeply inspiring. The final EP has surpassed all my expectations, it’s one of my favourite things I’ve ever made.
Despite its arbitrary selection, the songs came together beautifully, they feel like a cohesive story of resilience and hope. Though unintentional, the EP’s title not only reflects the songs rescued by my community but also captures it's message — it's like a lifebuoy for the soul.

Music was part of my life, I remember listening to my parents doing music when I was little and singing along getting all the lyrics wrong. I was thirteen when I picked up one of my dad's guitars and 19 when I moved out to become a full time musician. I am so grateful to be on this path!
