Electrolux by Lousy

The cult cassette album "Electrolux" by Sweden's Lousy - in a new mix by Cameron Boucher of Sorority Noise!

Lousy was a Swedish band active between 1994 and 2000 which biggest claim to fame was a 7" released in 1996 on canadian label Sappy Records, then run by Julie Doiron of Eric's Trip and her husband at that time, the great Jon Claytor. Lousy also appeared on some compilation albums released in Canada where some of their songs ended up with radio plays. They didn't really fit in with the musical scene in Sweden at the time (or maybe they were just too lazy. Or bad.) but played a couple of the big Swedish festivals and got some media.

Anyways. In 1997, after some member changes turned former keyboard player Magnus into lead vocalist and added Ulf Sivertson on guitar and Fredrik Åberg on drums to the line-up, Lousy recorded an album called "Electrolux". Sappy wanted to release it on vinyl but lacked funds and being tired of the whole demo-sending thing Lousy decided to release it as a cassette album. Even though noone really did cassette albums in 1997 they got the tape reviewed in Swedish music magazines. The cassette format didn't do the already murky sound any favors though and this gem of a recording never met many ears. It's now been saved from 8-track and mixed by Cameron Boucher of Sorority Noise, who has been able to really get the most out of this recording.

It's 30 minutes of pure pop punk slacker emo bliss, where lyrics of being afraid of confrontation is accompanied by cheerful handclaps, where stories of being deceived by friends get the Ramones on caffeine treatment.
