Second Hit by Lotis
While she delved into the possibilities of seamlessly combining electronic beats with cinematic strings and rich synth sounds in her early songs, Lotis Tyr ́s new 5-track-EP is an even deeper musical exploration of the simultaneity of the nonsimultaneous. On each track of her sophomore EP present impressions, thoughts and feelings are sonically reflected in „memoryscapes“, i.e. in mental and emotional sediments of time. Thus, Lotis Tyr creates grungy synth-pop with archaic, ritualistic elements, densely layered and oftentimes pulsing. However, since memories cannot only be deceiving, but also haunting, Lotis Tyr ́s new songs are fraught with ambiguity. And so, „Second Hit“, the title of the EP, primarily alludes to the psychological phenomenon during which past trauma resurfaces even though the initial injury has already been deemed healed.
