Spirits from Inner Spaces by Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch and Amir ElSaffar

Spirits begins with an active arpeggiated synth texture, joined by a Maqam melody on the trumpet, reminiscent of a shepherd’s song. This leads to a gradual buildup of percussive sounds in the Iraqi jourjina (10/16) rhythm, followed by an ElSaffar singing an ancient Iraqi Maqam, followed by a key change and jazz rhythm, with a virtuosic trumpet solo.

Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch is a composer and sound artist. His interests in the field of music goes from pure electronics to compositions for theater and dance, from soundtracks for images to interactive installations. The electro-acoustic composition is the heart of the different projects that he conceives and realises.
