The album’s first track, River, begins in almost complete silence, with walking bass tones from Bianchi Hoesch’s synthesizer. leading to ElSaffar enters with soft vocalizations in the low register, then crescendos as his voice is treated with multiple delays which swirl throughout the stereo field (or, in live contexts 8.1 surround), which build into complex, multi-layered soundscape. The voice reaches into the upper octaves, in an ecstatic cry, before gently resolving back into silence. The trumpet enters, segueing into the next track, Spirits.
Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch is a composer and sound artist. His interests in the field of music goes from pure electronics to compositions for theater and dance, from soundtracks for images to interactive installations. The electro-acoustic composition is the heart of the different projects that he conceives and realises.
