Swirling down the mountain side in our mobile dune buggy home, sniffing out the sulphur that's gonna lead us to pools of dizzying enlightenment, as if Big Sur wasn't treacherous enough! Tassahara here we come. Hello Monk! Hello Nun! (Pin point eyes divine me sweet and true)
Come to think of it yes, Big Sur... Where Miller made fun of his children, the book where she signed the endpaper, and where you drove 30 hours straight from Oklahoma to get us back home in one piece. The most treacherous scape of road and weather ever hurled at either of us. Ashen roadside meteor explosion in the punishing rain. A single tear disbanded your eye as we crossed the Canadian border and you never were so free.
I jump behind though - onwards we went collecting steam and cargo, caffeine injections and precarious garb and cassette tapes that smoked acid for us. The chlorophyl stank and we spit it out but the crepes further South were delicious and ate us up, not to mention the Tower Bar in San Diego where the acid was in the phone so "turn them off!" Rainy downpour greasing the melancholiest San Francisco where we ate the soup bubbling vault of ginsberg bones - taste yummy neath the city lights!
By this time I just drowned in the backseat, Nixon driving, Pete picking the tunes, visions a-stirring and wending till we were crossing the Canadian waters watching the mirrors swirl. Coming back. Back feeling alive to what we did out there. I wish you could hear it but that's just the way things are. If you exist in star dust and frequencies alone, if you visit this place ever, this one's here for ya.
