Emerging from New York City, Aphelion Entity is a formidable new presence in the cosmic death metal scene.
Formed in 2021 by bassist and vocalist Jon Bruno, guitarist Alex Lefteratos, and drummer Nick Santana - all from Needlepusher - they later welcomed guitarist Calder Hannan from Florid Ekstasis. Together, they deliver a seamless blend of technical wizardry, intricate compositions, and atmospheric digressions. Their self-titled debut EP is a testament to their mastery of the cavernous and the bizarre, weaving warp-speed blasts with crushing slowdowns and whiplash-inducing transitions.
The EP plunges listeners into realms of unknowable terror and unfathomable creatures, with lyrics steeped in the lore of H.P. Lovecraft and Cosmic Horror. Each track paints intense scenes of alien subjugation, cosmic invaders, and existential dread. Themes of extraterrestrial emperors and interdimensional sacrifices are explored, with the band's ferocious energy.
Fans of Blood Incantation, Tomb Mold, and Embryonic Devourment will find much to appreciate in this output.
