water from love letters by lapis

i've been holding on to a ring this past week, cuz my friend gave it to me. i think i understand why now, why i like physical things. I like them cuz they leave me. people want to hold, i want to hold, too. i just don't know if things are so black and white - i hate that term - that things are so... solid? solid or gas, you know, solid or left, you know, like, solid or nothing, like... i don't love that Idea - i just don't like it very much because... what is really happening when you leave? if you're thinking about the three states of matter it's like - solids, when they separate, they're two separate solids... they can't share. And gas... doesn't really even exist - well, that's not true, obviously, but gas is like, uh... constantly redistributing itself. there is no real autonomy.
but water... that's how i feel.
