The songs on this album have trickled out as singles over the past year, so every song could have its moment. Some songs on this records were written around 2018 and others came about during 2022 when I took Billy Reid and Chad Copelin to Sonic Ranch Studios to track most of these songs. Silver Screen is the most recently written track, and the last to release. The importance of finishing and letting go of this collection of songs can not be overstated. I started some of these songs in 2020 when I THOUGHT I would be recording the first full length, and then playing at SXSW, etc. etc. BUT the violent death of my younger sibling, followed quickly by the pandemic shut downs, told me the Universe had other plans. So it goes.
My sibling Walker, or perhaps Thalia had they remained long enough to make such a transition, was pronounced dead at 10:10am on February 13th, 2020. I hold that number in a special way. When I catch it on a clock I smile. These little things give me permission to continue to live my life after such a traumatic loss. Whether or not life has meaning, I do not know. I choose to give mine meaning, and part of that is music. Thank you for listening. For purchasing. The love means everything.

LABRYS is a music project forged by Penny Pitchlynn, an alternative singer-songwriter rooted in Oklahoma City. Combining a graveled low end, ruminative vocals, and vulnerable lyrics, LABRYS wields a heavy yet agile sound, evaporating experiential stones into smoky apparitions of self-reflection.
