Music is my livelihood. It's never paid the bills but it's how I make a living, ya know? It's what I exchange in the underground economy of souls; how I survive. Music saved my life.

That might've sounded like hyperbole to me before losing Luna in January. But without the grounding routine of lying on the floor at home with a dog, music has kept me tethered—earthbound! And the two things that always seemed like the greatest expression of my procrastinating suddenly matter most. It's clear what the real distractions were all along!

This is an album about companionship and the songs came out joyous and crushing: perfect! All my gratitude to Scott not only for their unrelenting friendship in hard times but for acting on lessons of multispecies care by rescuing a tiny kitten who had crawled into the undercarriage of my car during one of our recording sessions (ask me about Wheelhouse sometime).
