PAPA by KiLTiR

Babani Records is pleased to finally present the official release of Papa: the 2019 single by the legendary traditional Maloya group Kiltir. Originally released as only a music video on YouTube, it is only fitting that this song, that touched the hearts of many in Reunion Island, is available on all platforms.

Written by Jeannick Arhimann (Nono), the frontman of the group, this song stays true to its title by being the wholesome tribute that every father deserves to hear. Inspired by his own bonds with his father and his son, Nono was also motivated by the lack of songs in his own maternal language that spoke on paternal bonds as songs on maternity were more common. This track was only intended to be a simple father’s day gift for Nono’s old man, he was motivated by friends to finish and release it as an actual song.

We were also motivated from our side to give the track the love it deserves by carefully curating artists who we thought would compliment and add to it. These artists are: legendary Mauritian pianist, Damien Elisa, one of the leading producers in Reunion’s electronic music scene, Boogzbrown, Venezuala’s Caribombo and Voilaaa with their unique touch.
