Mausoleumi by Kemialliset Ystävät
This Kemialliset Ystävät tape was intended for the demo review page of Soundi, one of the two main Finnish pop music magazines at the time, under the moniker Mausoleumi. It was packaged in a plastic bag with some dreadful collages, a hostile but tongue-in-cheek letter to “Demosetä”, some grass from Luola Studio’s garden, and a Nivea anti-wrinkle cream sample. It stands as a document of the band’s ongoing ambivalent relationship with the music industry and its gatekeepers — hovering between indifference, contempt, and the desire to be heard. The tape was never submitted but instead remained in the band’s own archives. The grass has since vanished from the bag, but the music is still audible.
Kemialliset Ystävät will turn 30 in the autumn of 2025.

Credits
The tape was probably assembled sometime around the summer of 1999. “Diario” (B2) would later appear on the Moon Bowl compilation 7” EP (Weird Dreams, 2000).
