In the late 1980s, a revolutionary sound was born in the Indian Ocean. Following the raw, foundational live recordings produced by Percy Yip Tong at Studio Korail, the Mauritian visionary KAYA was ready to bring his new genre to the world.

SEGGAE MAN is the landmark 1992 studio album that captured this sound in a newly polished form. Produced by Gaëtan Valentin, this is the sound of KAYA at the peak of his powers, backed by the legendary Racinetatane. Sung primarily in Mauritian Creole, the album also features two powerful English-language tracks, "Sun Love" and "Spirit Seggae Musik," reflecting the genre's international influences.

For years, this iconic album has been a treasured artifact but hard to find in high quality. Now, presented by BABANI as the inaugural release for KAYA DAY, this restored album serves as the world's introduction to a truly unique musical force.

À la fin des années 1980, un son révolutionnaire est né dans l'océan Indien. Suite aux enregistrements live bruts et fondateurs produits par Percy Yip Tong au Studio Korail, le visionnaire mauricien KAYA était prêt à présenter son nouveau genre au monde.

SEGGAE MAN est l'album studio emblématique de 1992 qui a capturé ce son sous une forme nouvelle et peaufinée. Produit par Gaëtan Valentin, c'est le son de KAYA au sommet de sa puissance, accompagné par le légendaire groupe Racinetatane. Bien que principalement chanté en créole, l'album comprend également deux titres forts en anglais, "Sun Love" et "Spirit Seggae Musik", reflétant les influences internationales du genre.
