Vines from Fly (album) by Katy Tessman
“Vines” is the debut single from my new album “Fly." I wrote "Vines" for the Winter 2022 Singer/Songwriter Songwriting Challenge. The prompt word was Vines which led me to think about how love is a lot like a vine ... relentless, determined, twisted, tough.
It wasn't until Michael Koppelman (my friend and album producer) dusted it off, did I realize its potential. Then, the magical Jillian Rae humbly accepted my invitation to perform on the song. To paraphrase, she said "I'm happy to back up another kick-ass woman in music." Her gorgeous arrangement of violin, viola, and cello combined with Nikki Lemire 's added extra sparkle of expert harp and harmonies makes "Vines" a gem of a single.
