Feather (EP) by Katie Nicholas

Feather is the rebirth of Katie's heart-felt and authentic work. With a track record of catchy country-pop songs, this new era showcases Katie in a new light; a distinctive folk artist, skilful guitarist and fearless in bending any genre to suit her message. Accompanied by Isabella Baker on violin, Anna Corcoran on piano, and herself on acoustic guitar, this work is reminiscent of obscure but timeless artists including Norah Jones, Katie Melua, Eva Cassidy, Judee Sill and Joni Mitchell.

After a long silence despite a promising beginning, Katie is "out of the shadows" and back with a stunning campaign and a powerful message - there is strength in vulnerability.

The Songs

Feather (Single) - Feather is about hope. About arriving right on time after a long battle and silent struggle in the darkness. It’s about finding strength in vulnerability and recognising that fragility exists in all people.

Sitting Ducks - a song about time slipping by and feeling stifled, unable to express or get on path despite always trying.

Tethered Doves - a song about love and not wanting to cause the same harm or heartbreak you’ve been through onto someone else who is open-hearted and more hopeful than you are.

The Poet - a song about mental health. Written about my friend (a poet) who’s battle with depression led to a mental breakdown after a string of traumatic events. She was sectioned by her family, and I believe if she had the right support and was listened to, she wouldn’t have ended up in such a severe situation. She was left even more alienated and lost by the experience. I feel our world is unwell and in need of more kindness and love - everything she represented to me.
