Blue—
A crimson rain is falling in New York City,
The sky once blue is turning a darker hue,
I turn to you but your eyes are weary.
You’re saying something like you always try to please me,
The city swarms around us like we’re lost in a summer storm.

I quit my job: now I’m done with dancing
For lonely men and their dream to have me,
Spread out like a psalm on Sunday,
A semi-quaver rippling through my thighs—In some ways—
I’d rather have their fantasy than love that has no soul.

Ground Zero and the church is full at midday,
I pray to God but She has some other plans,
I sing a hymn and I ask forgiveness,
