Sitting at the morning table alone,
Sun winking through the cold
Mug is hot, a coffee tang
A rusted box I saved
alone the way of who I used to be

Nothing much of use
A tarnished trophy and a couple of ribbons blue
The first key my mom gave me to our childhood home
An old pack of Kodak photographs

The pictures were mostly me and my family
Here's one with dad and an aunt I believe.
One of my high school and that old VW
And then there was one of you

I had to look twice, had not seen you face for a while
But you were smiling right at me

It caught me by surprise
That green sparkle in your eyes
It was the first day I touched you hand
And you curled next to me
