Haven in hazel eyes
Fierce embraces; soft goodbyes
Take my hand
It’s high tide
Take a walk on the dock
Let’s trespass
See the derelict boats out on the marina
Long ago they say that you and I were young
We’d realize these human forms
So the myth goes you made all the stars
And I created the one to guide us
Must be why I can feel so deeply now
Dance with me on the sand while the sun goes down
We don’t know the steps but it’s smooth somehow
Must by why I can see so clearly now
Sit with me baby right in the river bed
Tadpoles kiss your toes
Everyone sees us
Frog and the dragonfly, snake with her head up high
Once upon a time when you and I were wind
Where every tale begins to blossom
So the myth goes, you drew wings on every fledgling
Breathed life to every sapling
The last of summer shining bright in those hazel eyes
Got to let it go
Surrender, no ending, the river to the sea
So heavy just to be
I am the cresting wave
So lucky just to be
I am the crashing wave
