Unwittingly by Elvis Eno

Elvis Eno’s second album, Unwittingly, was close to being titled, Elvis Eno And His Lo-Fi Acoustic Orchestra. Señor Eno invoked a strict set of guidelines going into the recording sessions. All the instruments heard on the album had to be produced from an acoustic guitar. The percussion heard comes from fingers, palms or fists pounding upon the guitar's body. Are those cellos and violins ? Sort of. Eno discovered this splendid new guitar accessory called the PICKASSO. This gizmo turns any acoustic guitar into a bowed instrument. It’s a mini-violin bow that can slide in and out of the guitar's sound hole to create an incredible sound. Eno also ended up stacking vocals upon vocals to distance the record from your everyday singer-songwriter fare. Song titles like The Contentment Of Feeling Less, The Queen of The Slowly Reply, Shortcomings and Long Goodbyes, and The Man Who Can’t Move On appear to be heartfelt, personal statements, which is unexpected coming from an artist performing under a nom de plume.
