Lyrics
I was sleeping by a tree
when a wolf came lurking by me
He said you’re cold and you’re drunk
you really ought to go home
So I stood up from the dust
I said Ok if I must
I’ll try and outrun, again
the feeling that led me here
So I crouched down by a bush
and prepared for one last push
I though if I pull this off
it’s gonna save my life
All the worry in my gut was extinguished on my cigarette stub
Before I hit the river I sang a little song
Goodbye to the city
You have helped me to grow
But I can no longer carry the tar
The glues me to this road
Goodbye to the scene
You have ripped my life apart
Stitched it back together and stashed it in my songs
I’d kind of had it with the blues
but sometimes you just can’t choose
what coloured neon light eliminate your trail
I put the wolf back on a chain and let him lead the way
With such a task at hand we had to stop into a bar
Everybody needs a plan
and to know just where they stand
but eight years went by and I woke outside again
I’ll never trust no helping hand
that offers to guide me through this land again
Before I packed to leave along I sang this song
Goodbye to the city
You have helped me to grow
but I can no longer carry the tar
that glues me to this road
Goodbye to the scene
You have ripped my life apart
Stitched it back together and stashed it in my songs
Goodbye to the city
You have helped me to grow
but I can no longer carry the tar
that glues me to this road
Goodbye to the scene
You have ripped my life apart
Stitched it back together and stashed it in my songs
