Intro by JMZM
Sound is to ears what colour is to eyes. Sound is juxtaposed to silence. Music gives vivid expression to their union. Such music is then juxtaposed to awareness. Listening brings the two together. In the act of listening, the listener allows his or her own history to intersect with the music heard, resulting in experience impossible to predict, hinting at futures impossible to imagine. In the words of Jean-Luc Godard, “It’s not where you take things from—it’s where you take them to.”
