My first CDSS summer camp, Harmony of Song and Dance at Pinewoods, was the most momentous life changing experience to ever happen. I absorbed so many elements of folk life and music to which I promptly embedded into my life when I returned home. The camp changed the way I approached playing and learning folk tunes, my perspective on teaching music, my environmental views, my wardrobe, my social relations, my diet, my life philosophies, and just about any and every aspect of my life. It was nearing the end of the week and I had been feeling particularly inspired by all the warm and fuzzy feelings of the week. I sat down at the piano and started writing this tune which ended up being minimally edited. As I was writing the tune, a cardinal flew up in a nearby tree.
Jacob is a public school music educator, dancer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist.
