Few months had been spent at Richmond's royal park by Jakob Torn. Resulted a compilation, recorded seven soundscapes which could be considered as a sonic-map of this place.

The park has a really unique particularity, namely it's location. A huge patch of nature, collection of forests, bushes, hidden lodges, apartments, artificial lagoons, valleys, hills, a relatively bigger lake divided by a rampart. Loads of wild animals, like red and fallow deers, birds, woodpeckers, squirrels, rabbits, snakes, frogs, toads, stag beetles … All this wilderness take place almost in the middle of a cosmopolitan city, London, in 'Zone-4'.

You can hear two things constantly, basically. Departing and landing planes from the direction of Heathrow, flying really low through London's skyline.

The roads, cars and public transportation around the park. Even the distant inner city traffic can be heard, when the park turns quiet during the evening/night time. So the thing is, that you will never hear complete silence here.

This mixture, this contrast was the reason why the artist returned time-to-time after his first visit. There are some roads, across the green, which are quite busy with car traffic during mornings/afternoons, so the recordings were made mostly in the evenings, nights. To leave out human related sounds, as much as it was possible, the focus almost always was on the relation between nature and it's surrounding.
