Moonchild by Indre Gasiune & Serge Merlaud & Simon Teboul

The title of this album,“Moonchild”, is borrowed from the King Crimson’s song. It’s an invitation to unlock and meet our emotions.
It is an invitation to express our sensitivity (the inner Child) that sometimes gradually steps away during our lifetime and emerges only as does the Moon in the calmness and darkness of the night.

We wanted to create an intimate, almost meditative atmosphere in order to more deeply express that sensitivity. The minimalistic configuration 'voice-bass-guitar' allows every instrument to stand out and, at the same time, allows to interact intensively like in a friends’ deep conversation. The roles are interchangeable and every part has its own place in the story with well marked melodic lines. Our sound approach is completed by the importance of the pauses when the numerous silent moments make the coming notes even more intense.

The repertoire crosses different time periods and styles as more traditional jazz standards (“Prelude to a Kiss”, “The Masquerade is over”), together with modern jazz music (“Dienda”, “Nicolette”) and finally some pop/rock tributes (“Boots of Spanish Leather” by Bob Dylan or King Crimson’s “Moonchild”) with a common thread that is a touch of sincerity and melodic nostalgia.
