IS=IS by Indifferent Spaces
Released 09/26/13, IS=IS serves as a "Best of" compilation of the first 6 Indifferent Spaces projects. With some songs slightly adjusted, remixed and/or remastered, this album is an exemplary selection of their finest masterpieces with a natural and smooth sequence flow. All full length songs here, no minuets, except for "8/19/13 5:07 AM" which is a 15 second piece that seems to appear on the album for the soul purpose of separating the 20 previously released songs from 2 previously unreleased mash-up bonus tracks: "Manipulating the Boards" [a mash-up of Boards of Canada samples] and "Playing with Food" [a mash-up of DJ Food 'Kaleidoscope' samples]. Aside from the main drum loop in both instrumentals, all the samples are of each artist respectively. There are a plethora of great recognizable clips in each track, all sliced, diced and strewn together with other more obscured samples that have been warped, re-pitched, and/or reversed to create an entirely new trip hop vibe. The bonus tracks are refreshing and definite standouts in an overall classic collection of excellent numbers from Indifferent Spaces. Full running time: 98 minutes.
