I’m from the west side
you can’t tell by looking but I almost did blend in
Then I met some cool kids lived in the valley
and they showed me what to wear
Overdosed on coffee talked about the future
where we’d take our rightful place

and some Magazine

25 years and nothing’s changed
It’s a lonely day so far from home
I tried to conform but so I thought
If I bent I broke the mold I found a perfect hiding place

I never... go back to the west side where the ocean
kisses all the jasmine in the air
Unless I’m destined to live in prison that is lined
with golden bars of gold

It takes an hour just to get on to the freeway
I think I got out just in time
and all my old friends back in the west side
live so far so far away

I always want to please let myself off the hook
I won’t write because I’m scared the
words are going to break my heart
If I come back then you will know
my stories come to this eternal bliss
