Midas Touch from Midas Touch by Avernon

I composed, produced, wrote, sang, recorded, mixed, and mastered the song that you are listening to right now. It took me 9 months to get from the demo of the track to the finished version.

Midas Touch is about reminiscing on the good parts of a past relationship. Even though it ended, you have to mourn the version of the person that you knew before. It’s possible to feel a super strong connection with someone, and then one day they just kick you to the curb. Those feelings don’t just disappear, so that’s why I wrote this song. I have experienced way too much heartache, and this song helped me heal from it.

I called this one “Midas Touch” because of the story of Midas from Greek mythology. I felt like the metaphor of Midas turning everything that he touches to gold was a valid representation of an ex-lover. Once you touch me, there’s no chance I will come back to life, because, well… I’ll be golden.
