See Him by Hydro Walkers

Dear person listening,

There's two points in life where you say, I wanna see God. The first, before you really know Him, that point where you're not even sure if He exists. Usually it's a moment of great distress, darkness or desperation that triggers the desire to see Him. A loved one is on their death bed, money issues, loss of a job or a sick child. I've ignored God my whole life, except in a moment of overdosing from cocaine, afraid to die, I called out in desperation and another moment of heart break. Rock bottom gives us no choice but to look up. In those moments, I did see Him and then ignored Him for a long time after. I knew He was real but He was my 911. Yeah, I know, I really abused His love but thank God He is patient and His grace is unending.

The second, is when you finally devote yourself to following Jesus and you go through seasons where you feel like He's not there. You know that He is but as life happens, the result of the fallen world we live in plays out before us and sometimes we feel alone. We feel like we are pursuing God but it's a one way conversation. Often my own frustration, my will gets the best of me. Sometimes I'm even tempted to just go on without God. In my head it's like, "fine, if you're not coming then I'm going alone". My ego and pride tells me that I know what's best, my timing is best and that what I want is best. Eventually, I'll realize that those are lies, and that God's timing and will is best. But I'm human, I'm likely to jump ship from time to time as I learn to trust the safety and steadiness of God. As I draw closer and closer to Him, with every situation He proves Himself trustworthy, it makes it that much easier to stay on the ship. The desire to see Him move in my life grows more and more. If you feel like God isn't there, know that He is. Slow and steady wins the race. We're so tempted to sprint ahead and go our own way but keep seeking God. The Bible says, "for the one who knocks and keeps knocking, the door will be opened and the one who seeks and keeps seeking, he will find"
