HRNG stands for 'Hardware Random Number Generator'—or, in another sense, 'hearing'—and has become the outlet for sonic works accompanying visual artworks, research projects, and more. Much like a hardware RNG draws on thermal noise, electromagnetic interference, or quantum effects to generate truly random data, HRNG as a sonic practice is rooted in the material and the contingent.
