Harvey McLaughlin is a devilishly talented young man as the cover art for his mysteriously titled, forthcoming album ‘Peña’ telegraphs. His recombinant formulae in terms of personnel and influence keep his music evolving. Lo-fi garage, gospel and Westside soul are all in play musically with a lyrical bent informed by the harshness of street-level life countered by the fantastic and magical. The lead track ‘Bag of Shrunken Heads’ drops today on Bandcamp and on major platforms next Friday - it’s a rager.
