Trajectories
She came out of the sand, tiny in silence. She drew, slowly, a trajectory. El mar rugía, las olas irrepetibles iban y venían arrastrándola en la playa. The turtle keeps going. It carried slowly and tiny her millenary weight. Infinite repetition of her movement, she has been in that slowness for centuries. She leaves the sand, enters the shore. She draws a trajectory that the
unrepeatable waves erase without ceasing. Ruge el mar, la tortuga avanza, se revuelca, dibuja sus pasos diminuta en silencio, repite sus movimientos. The sea roars. There are other ways of walking, of not arriving, other slownesses, other speeds of the wave. There are other ways of drawing the outward and return journeys. At what speed I left this
morning? Who followed my trajectory? What waves erased it?
Other beach walkers pass by, stop to watch the turtle who struggles, battles against the wave. No sé si dejaron una trayectoria en la arena. Sigo sin voluntad mi camino en la playa. There is a part full of stones that make the steps difficult. I think of the turtle: would it reach the sea? El mar ruge without telling the time, the waves erase the trajectories and the drawings. I turn around, I cross the stones that hinder the steps. I return to the place where I saw her, there are no more walkers, no more trajectories, there is no trace of the turtle.
