Grito Serpentino was formed by Marc Pinate and José Arroyo while they were both students at Santa Clara University. José accompanied Marc's poetry open-mic sessions around the Bay Area. They hooked up with other musicians, and in a few months Charles Castillo and Mikey Chacon settled into the mix. Their first gigs were at the Agenda Lounge and the groundbreaking poetry series Lunadas.
