Giovanni Mancuso & Alberto Collodel play the music of Anthony Braxton
Anthony Braxton will turn 80 in 2025 and he is considered to be one of the greatest living composers of avant-jazz-oriented contemporary music. His unique approach has resulted in an unparalleled blend between tradition and avant-garde, notated and improvised music.
For this reason, pianist Giovanni Mancuso and bass clarinetist Alberto Collodel have ventured into re-arranging and playing some of Anthony Braxton’s music for ensemble written between the 1960s and the early 1980s, adopting a philological approach using his original scores and closely following his instructions on improvisation.
