Before everything there is a pause,
an emptiness, a space, a moment.
Stillness before movement, darkness before light, a breath before exhaling, a void as yet unfilled.

Days, minutes. seconds, all of life held in this moment,
the very last moment before change.

A pause, after what came before,
everything you knew, everything you thought you knew,
everything that held and shaped and formed you,
everything that said "this is who I am"

You're in that space now.
Breathe it in, one last time.
Breathe in the person you are, one last time.
One last time.

And breathe out.

Feel the heather around your feet, smell the salt on the wind,
don't look back, that time has gone,
turn your eyes to the west and your face to the sun.
Everything is new.
