Spectral Cascades by Izanasz

"Spectral Cascades" by Izanasz is an exposition of tipping points - when he talks of the spectral, it's not so much about smooth graduality as it is about flow pathways between spectral extremes, propagating along dimensions of volume, sound density and mood states. In the two long-form pieces, the listener slides from the sensually understated to the overwhelmingly dramatic, only to return yet again to elusive vaporous territory.
Skeletally, the first piece is an intuitive assemblage of materials collected without any linear logic, individual sound materials sculpted to work with each other, eventually offering a glimpse into a field of unrestrained id. The second long-form piece feels like a paranoid fiction, with the listener gliding past states of lucid, androidic self-awareness and illusory hypnagogic perceptions. The two shorter pieces might be imagined as addendum works - but in their own right, they are plateaus outlining an eerie oasis of normality between epic movements, pregnant with something brewing under the skin.
